Some people focus on the New Year to make a resolution. They may say things like, “This year I resolve to eat better.” But most vague resolutions don’t work.

The reason is they’re not specific enough for you to follow through with it. Which is one reason why we all give up by the second week of the year.

Since habits are often hard to change. So you might want to add some more realistic resolutions on top of resolutions that make big changes.

Make resolutions that focus on small goals

One way to do this is by making resolutions that focus on small goals. So you can work your way up to bigger resolutions.

You can make improvements to your life in much smaller steps. For example, if you want to start working out, but don’t know where to start. You could resolve to exercise for five minutes a day. Then add more minutes as you start to make exercise a habit.

Though resolutions are often hard to keep up with, they can be fun and rewarding when you follow through. It can help you lead a healthier lifestyle. Making resolutions can help motivate you to take the first step towards healthy changes.

Resolve to eat fruits and vegetables with every meal and snack

One of the best ways to get your daily dose of fruits and vegetables is by adding them to every meal. Add sliced apple or berries to oatmeal for breakfast. Or make a smoothie with three different serving sizes of vegetables and fruits each day.

For lunch try starting off simple with a salad. Use a couple of cups fulls of leafy greens. Then add in more veggies like shredded carrots and cucumbers.

When looking for something to snack on try roasting some root vegetables like beets and parsnips. This makes a great substitute for chips. You can even dip them in some guacamole.

If you’re craving something sweet blend up some berries in place of ice cream. This is a great alternative for an afternoon snack or for an after-dinner dessert.

IAdding fruits and vegetables to every meal, snack, or on their own as a side dish then it’s not that difficult. You can get the nutrients your body needs with these simple changes!

Resolve to stop drinking soda and sugary drinks

So many people add extra calories to their diet by drinking soda and other sugary drinks. If you want to lose weight, cut out the sugary drinks. A diet full of soda and other sweetened beverages is not healthy for your body.


Soda is an easy way to add unnecessary calories to your diet. It can have harmful side effects such as weight gain and blood sugar fluctuations.


Drinking sparkling water instead is a great way to cut calories. Without sacrificing taste. You can still get that fizz. Without all the calories. There are many different brands and flavors to choose from.
I like drink Polar Seltzer and La Croix. I also have a soda stream so I can carbonate my own water and add my choice of flavor.  

Resolve to try a new fruit or vegetable each month

Eating a variety of fruits and vegetables is not more healthy, but it can also be fun. Introducing new ones into your diet each month will expand your nutritional reach.

Your diet is boring without variety. Fruits and veggies are essential for good health. But some people can get stuck in a rut of eating the same ones all the time.

Resolve to drink more water

One of the best ways to keep your body functioning at its peak is by drinking lots and plenty of water. Water provides many health benefits. From aiding digestion all the way up through a healthy skin complexion.

A person’s daily water intake should be half of your body weight in ounces. And drinking more is always better. This not only helps you stay hydrated but keeps your metabolism running smoothly.

A great way to remind yourself to drink more water is by setting an alarm to remind yourself several times a day. Also, the first thing you should do in the morning is drink at least one glass of water. Then again with each meal throughout your day so you’ll stay hydrated all day long.

Drinking enough H2O every day has many health benefits. Like increasing energy levels by hydrating cells. So make sure to keep a glass handy during those morning hours when we first wake up. As well as throughout the day so drinking water becomes second nature.

Resolve to eat fewer sweets

If you’re like many people, your biggest downfall to eating healthy is sweets. Avoiding sugar does make an impact!
Cutting back on sugary snacks is a helpful step to making a difference in your health. I know when I cut out sugar, my body has more energy, and I better sleep.

A lot of people have several unhealthy things on their plates every day. Such as sweets or other processed foods with high glycemic index values. These choices are easy to come by. But this will only add unwanted extra weight .

One of my biggest downfalls is always eating sugary snacks. Avoiding sugar does make a difference in how you feel.
Resolve to cut back on consuming sugar. A simple way to do this is by tracking how many sugary snacks you eat each day. Then begin to cut back on those snacks until you only have one sugary treat a day or better yet once a week.

Resolve to drink a glass of green tea each day

There are many health benefits to drinking green tea, and it’s not a beverage. It can help with weight loss by burning fat cells.

Green tea is a fantastic drink that can have many benefits for your health. Add some green tea to your day. Enjoy it with breakfast or sip on it in the afternoon. Try swapping it with your morning coffee and drink it as soon as you wake up. 

Resolve to stop eating in the evenings after dinner

People often find themselves in the kitchen looking for a snack after dinner. Drink water if you’re having trouble stopping yourself from snacking on unhealthy food.

You can also distract yourself with another activity like reading a book or going out for a walk. It might not be as easy to resist snacking after dinner when we’re tired. But because something seems convenient does not mean our bodies it.

These 7 diet resolutions are easy to follow. They’re healthy resolutions and small changes you’ll be able to keep. So they will help you stay on track to lose weight.

As you’re looking forward to your New Year and thinking of resolutions, be specific. You can be successful by setting specific goals to help you lose weight and get healthier.

These 7 diet resolutions are easy to put into your lifestyle and can help you make a change to a healthier you. The ones I need to work on are eating fewer sweets and stopping eating in the evenings.
