21 Day Fix

The 21 Day Fix workouts are designed to burn a lot of calories in only 30 minutes. Anyone at any fitness level can do them. If you’re a beginner you have the option to follow the modifier.

21 Day Fix has two versions. The original program where you repeat some days and a version where the workouts are shot in real-time. 21 Day Fix real-time features a different workout for each of the 21 days of the program.

  • Total Body Cardio Fix and Cardio Fix help build up your heart rate.
  • Lower Fix, Upper Fix, and Dirty 30 focus on weight training to help build strength.
  • Pilates Fix and Yoga Fix stretch and strengthen your entire body on active recovery days.

I prefer the real-time version because you don’t have to repeat a workout. So the program stays fresh and doesn’t become repetitive.

These are boot camp-style workouts that burn calories and can help you lose weight in just 30 minutes a day.

Job 1

Job 1 is a 4-week, 20 minutes a day program that puts you in the mindset that taking care of yourself is not optional. 20 minutes may not seem like it’s enough time to get results. But the sample workout I tried left me breathless and my heart was pumping.

  • Includes 20 Strength and Cardio workouts
  • Strength routines rotate between different muscle groups to help you sculpt and get stronger with maximum efficiency.
  • Cardio workouts will get your heart pumping
  • Working overtime is optional with 4 Bonus Strength workouts and 1 Stretch Recovery routine.
  • Job 1 is great for beginners looking to get started

MBF

Muscle Burns Fat or MBF is a 3-week long program. There are 6 workouts each week and an active recovery day on Sundays. You will get leaner and stronger as you increase your metabolism and burn fat. For three weeks, you’ll follow weightlifting and cardio workouts.

These workouts have a fast-paced music beat. The music gets you pumped up and excited to do the moves.

This program is unique because it was filmed during Covid. So none of the cast members were in the studio with the trainer. Instead, they’re all working out with her online at home. It was fun watching the cast doing the same workout with you at home!

There is a lower body, upper body, and full-body burn. Also, there are 3 different cardio days. You will alternate strength and cardio workouts.

  • Lower body Burn – Target your quads, glutes, and hamstrings with classic weightlifting and asymmetrical training.
  • Core Circuit – Cardio and core blocks maximize the fat-burning, along with an AMRAP (as many rounds as possible) finisher to really challenge yourself.
  • Upper Body Burn – Hit your chest, back, shoulders, and arms with classic weightlifting and asymmetrical training.
  • Core Circuit – Same as Tuesday, but with new moves and more cardio. Record your AMRAP score so you can try to beat it next time.
  • Full Body Burn – Push yourself to lift heavier and crush this head-to-toe workout that leaves no muscle untouched.
  • Power Ignite- This quick 25-minute EMOM (every minute on the minute) workout will challenge you to do a specific number of reps during each minute. The faster you finish, the more rest you get.
  • Dynamic Recovery – This active stretch and flow recovery class will help ease tension, boost mobility, and optimize your recovery to help get you ready

645

This program’s focus is on strength and mobility training. It’s designed to help everyone build strength while losing weight.

645 might sound intimidating because the workouts are 6 days a week, 45 minutes a day. But the warm-ups and cool-downs are longer than most workouts because one of the major emphases of the workout is mobility.

If the moves are too hard follow the modifier. 645 is a great beginner workout even though it’s 45 minutes long. So don’t be afraid to check it out.

The program was filmed in real-time so every workout is new. And every day is different. You’ll never repeat the 78 workouts. Each day is different from the day before.

  • Lower Body Strength – Get those booty gains with this full-body workout that focuses on your lower half.
  • Total Body Power – Burn fat with powerful moves that will target major muscle groups.
  • Mobility & Stability – Calm your mind and enhance your recovery and performance with breathing, stretching, and mobility drills.
  • Upper Body Strength – A full-body workout with an emphasis on the chest, back, arms, and shoulders.
  • Total Body Tempo – Follow my pace and tempo as we blast through the moves.
  • Cardio 45 -Build multidirectional speed and agility while you get your heart pumping and calories burning.

  • Booty Blend: Embrace the burn as you help lift and shape your glutes using small, controlled movements, isometric holds, and high reps.

Tips for Success for Beachbody Workouts for Beginners

  • Follow the program as it’s designed
  • Pick a nutrition program to follow

Follow the program

When you start a program make sure to follow it through until the end. You’ll feel accomplished and ready for the next program and maybe challenge yourself to an intermediate or difficult program.

The programs give you calendars to follow so it’s easy to know the schedule. The trainer knows the best way to work your body. So if there’s a rest day take it. If it’s a cardio day but you hate cardio do it anyway. You’ll see the results if you follow the program.

Follow a Nutrition Program

Have you heard of the saying abs are made in the kitchen? I’ve learned firsthand that this is true. I always thought that as long as I exercised I could still eat what I wanted and lose weight.

I’ve been consistent in working out for the last 2 years but never saw a change in my body. I didn’t lose weight and I didn’t look toned. It wasn’t until the beginning of this year that I finally committed to following Portion Fix that I started losing weight and seeing the muscles I’ve been training for the last couple of years.

Do Beachbody workouts come with a meal plan?

It does work without a meal plan if you’re only looking to exercise. If you already eat a healthy well-balanced diet then you’re good to go. Or if you’re only wanting to maintain your weight then only doing the workouts will still have you feeling more fit.

But as the trainers like to say, you can’t out-train a bad diet. So if you want to lose weight you will have to follow a healthy eating plan. Following a nutrition plan is a lot easier when you take the time to meal plan.

If you need help with meal planning you can find already done for you meal plans on the BODi platform

Do you need weights for Beachbody Workouts for Beginners?

Most Beachbody programs require minimal equipment. However, hand weights are needed for a lot of the programs. It’s best to have a pair of light, medium, and heavy weights to get the most out of your workouts. If you’re new to working out I would recommend having a pair of 5, 8, and 10-pound weights. But, if you are starting with barre blend you’ll want a lighter pair of weights, 2 or 3 pounds.

Which Beachbody Workouts for Beginners is best for weight loss?

A shorter program is probably the best way to start. Short programs go by a lot faster so you will feel accomplished by completing it. 21 Day Fix would be the best program to start with. It has a little bit of everything, strength training, cardio, yoga, and pilates. Also, the workouts are only 30 minutes long. Autumn Calabrese is the trainer and also my favorite. This was the first program I did when I started with Beachbody.

Do I need Beachbody Supplements?

Using supplements can help give you more energy and recover faster. These supplements are not necessary for these Beachbody workouts for beginners but they can help with your results.

The supplements suggested are pre-workout, workout, and post-workout supplements. Also to drink Shakeology every day.

The pre-workout supplement is Energize which helps to improve exercise performance. Drink it before your workout to help you power through and get the most out of your workout. I like using energize on cardio days because it helps to give me an added boost to get through the workout.

Hydrate is a workout supplement that helps to replace electrolytes lost through sweat. It helps keep you hydrated during your workout.

The post-workout supplement is Recover. Which gets protein to your muscles to help your body recover from all the hard work it’s doing. It helps your body rebound quickly so you’ll be ready for your next workout. I look forward to drinking Recover after my workout. It’s like a treat for completing it!

Shakeology is superfood nutrition your body needs. It’s crafted with a potent blend of protein, probiotics, digestive enzymes, antioxidants, vitamins, and more. It helps satisfy hunger, curb cravings, provide healthy energy, and support healthy digestion.
