Whole30 Costco Must-Haves

Oil
Light Olive Oil – I prefer to buy light olive oil because it has a milder flavor than extra virgin olive oil. It’s also good to use when making dressings such as dump ranch and for making mayonnaise.
Avocado Oil – Avocado Oil has a mild flavor. So it’s good to use in dressings and for mayo. It also has a higher burning point than olive oil. So it’s good to use it for sauteing and searing.
Coconut Oil – also has a higher burning point so its good for sauteing and searing foods. Without burning the food. It usually stays solid so it’s wouldn’t work for making dressings.
Avocado Oil Spray – non-stick spray comes in handy quite often when cooking. However, a lot of non-stick sprays have soy in the ingredients. Fortunately, Costco has a compliant non-stick spray.
Other Fats

Guacamole – I think guacamole can go with almost anything. Pick some up premade at Costco. Make sure to check ingredients.
Olives – are a good source for plated fat. Just make sure they don’t contain any off-plan ingredients. Such as sulfites.
Almond Butter – Costco has a compliant almond butter. It’s a big jar and definitely worth picking up.
Coconut Milk – good to have on hand for curries. It is also good to add to coffee is you don’t like drinking it black. Or add it to tea. I like adding it to mashed potatoes or to eggs. The coconut milk makes it creamy.
Kerrygold – If you make your own clarified butter or ghee try to use pastured organic butter such as Kerrygold.
Butter is not allowed on Whole30. Butter contains traces of milk proteins. But clarified butter or ghee is allowed on the program. Clarified butter’s made by separating the milk solids from the pure butter oil. Ghee’s made the same way except it’s heated for a longer amount of time.
Plated Fats
You need to have a plated fat with every meal because it keeps you more full for longer. If you skip your plated fat because of the calories you may find that you are hungry before your next meal. The point of the plated fat is to keep yourself full between meals.

Pantry Items
Coconut Aminos – Soy Sauce is off-limits for Whole30. But fear not because Coconut Aminos is a good substitution. It has less sodium and a slightly sweeter taste.
Almond Flour – good for breading and binding. Use it when making chicken tenders. Or when making meatloaf and meatballs.
Dates – are a natural way to add sweetness to recipes. Recreating treats is not allowed on Whole30. But you can use them to add sweetness to recipes like ketchup. They are also used in this Sloppy Joe Recipe.
Produce

You should have at least 1-3 cups of vegetables per meal. So plan on eating a lot of veggies. Costco sells a wide variety of produce. So you will have a lot to choose from. I like buying salad ingredients, like lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers.
Proteins

Smoked Pulled Pork – this is great to have on hand during a busy day. Nothing is prepared and you need something on the dinner table.
Aidells Organic Chicken Apple Sausage – another quick meal option. I love making sheet pan sausage and veggies dinner. This is one Whole30 meal my kids will eat!
Canned Fish – pick up some canned salmon and tuna at Costco. It’s good protein to have on hand when you need to make a quick meal. Canned salmon and tuna are also an easy protein to add to salads.

READ THE INGREDIENTS!!!
It is important to read the labels of everything you plan on eating when on Whole30. It may be a pain in the butt at first but it is a necessity. Soy, sugar, and other off-plan ingredients are found in so many things.
You may not think you need to check every label. But it’s a good idea to do so. I have ended many rounds because I didn’t check what was in an item. So make sure to check ingredients before you use an item.
